Tuesday students will show self-portrait "plan" including image, color scheme, size, compositional sketch - worth 20 pts.

3D - students are working on organic sculpture, carving plaster designs and creating ceramic stamps.

Continue working on copper rings!!!! They need to be turned in by Thursday of this week.

ART I 12/13 - 12/17

Go over Quarter test students took on Fri. students will have the opportunity to copy questions and answers from test during class, however they will not be allowed to take the test out of the classroom. Questions will return next week on the final.

2D students ---- starting figure drawing with live model this week. Students will work for 8 days on drawing for 100 pts.

3D students ---- working on organic designs, and plaster designs.

Wearable Art 12/6 - 12/10

This week we are working hard on copper rings. Projects will be due next week, progress grade will be given at the end of the week.

ART 1 12/6 - 12/10

Students will be working on self-portrait drawings all week. They will be due next Wed. the 15th.
On Friday students will take a Quarter Test covering all information covered in the 2nd 9 weeks. This test is worth 100 pts. and should be studied for.

2/D - 3/D ART 11/29 - 12/3

2-D students turn in written critique on tuesday. Begin figure study on Tues. Sketchbook assignments - 3 index cards including images of famous self-portraits, 15 pts. 3 sketches of self-portrait ideas for student projects, 45 pts. all due on Friday.

3-D students will bring a container from home for mixing and molding plaster for a totem carving project on Monday. Mixing plaster and designing heads to be carved, which begin next week after plaster has had time to dry out. Organic sculpture designs will be discussed on Wed. Sculpting techniques will be discussed on Thurs. and Friday.

Wearable Art 11/29-12/3

Wearable students will be turning in woven piece, ready to wear on tuesday. Copper soldered earrings are due on tues. Copper ring designs should be cut out by Friday and filing and sanding will begin immediately after.

ART 1 11/29-12/3

Art I students will finish the value still life mid week.
tues. Mark Twain trivia which will be topic for sketchbook assignment. Sketchbook due on Thursday, response to one of the pieces we discuss on Tues.
Wed introduce self-portrait assignment, begin grid for images. Continue grid work on Thursday and Friday.

2/D - 3/D ART 11/22-11/23

2D students need to finish project #1 and turn in before Wed!
3D students will be mixing plaster for a totem project - plaster will need to set during the break to be enough to carve the following week.
Sketchbook assignment of "organic sculptures" will need to be turned by Tues at the latest.

Wearable Art 11/22- 11/23

Wearable Art students will turn in paper models and begin cutting out copper for ring bands. Copper wire earrings should be completed and turned in on Tues, the 23rd. Those students who have not completed the weaving project should take looms home over Thanksgiving break to work on project at home.

Wearable Art 11/22- 11/23

Art I students will apply charcoal to still life drawing, working in the highlights and shadows.
Sketchbook due on tues. the 23rd. assignment is to draw 5 pairs of eyes, realistically drawn, human, and not cartoon. One of the pairs should belong to the student, they can use a mirror or work from a photograph.

Discuss artist Dale Chihuly, students will turn in video summary over Chihuly's work on Monday. Begin composition work for value still life on Tues, continue through Thurs. Begin adding value on Friday. Sketchbook assignment is video summary this week.

Trade Party on Tues. 11/9 theme is "around the wrist"
Last day to work on weavings during class is Monday, looms may be taken home to continue weaving on. Lecture Wed. on soldering. Sketchbook assignment on Ring designs due Monday 15.

Students are continuing to weave pieces on the loom. Trade party pieces are due on Tues. Nov. 9th

ART 1 11/1 - 11/5

Art I students are working in non-objective design. 2 pages of non-objective doodles, will be reduced to 10 compositions, students will select one composition to enlarge. We will use a grid system for enlarging the small composition. Sketchbook this week will be value exercises.

Wearable students have completed the metal pendant project. This week begins an investigation into fiber and weaving assignments. Students begin planning for a "trade party" which will occur on the 2nd of Nov. topic is "around the wrist" Altered book planning page for the trade party design will be due on Thurs. of this week.

ART 1 10/18-22

We will continue the study into perspective drawing, relating to familiar hallways and buildings.

those students on the potters wheel will have a chance to rotate out on monday. We will spend a few days recycling clay that has been used in the last 2 weeks. Handbuilders will finish up projects and have a chance to rotate in using the potters wheels.

Students will complete one point perspective names in their sketchbooks on their own time. Monday demonstration on two point perspective, and we will begin 2-pt drawings in sketchbooks. These 2 pages will be graded for completion on Thurs. Fri we will watch first half of Michelangelo video. Quiz this week.

Students will not be allowed to work on bird sculpture any more during class period, students may work during seminar, before or after school, these projects may be turned in next week.

2/D - 3/D ART 9/20-9/24

Students are continuing to work on bird sculptures. We will take a break after Tuesday on working during class time, as the clay parts have not been fired yet, and will resume next week. 2-D students will begin a still life drawing, and 3-d students will begin working on designs for a new sculpture. Nothing due this week.

Wearable Art 9/20-9/24

Students are sawing, filing and sanding metal shapes. This week we will explore surface embellishments and practice new techniques. Students will be assigned an artist to investigate and write on mid-week, assignments will not be due until next week.

Art I 9/20-9/24

Students will be working on Accent Lines using a thick and thin technique this week, we work practice the new technique on Monday, and then begin reworking the lines on the contour still life drawing on Tues, hopefully finishing up on Wed, or Thursday.
This weeks sketchbook assignment is "something from your backpack" focus is on SHAPE, student may choose one or more objects, the grade will be on quality of drawing. Assignments are due on Thursday the 23rd.

Wearable Art 9/13-9/17

Students will turn in and model headdress piece on Monday 9/13, students will turn in a written description and reflection page with project. We will begin basic metal techniques including demonstrations and practice skills - sawing, filing, sanding, and piercing this week.

2/D - 3/D ART 9/13 - 9/17

Students will continue to work on Bird Sculptures. Students should have bodies established as of last week, and are responsible for bringing in a base to pour concrete, supportive objects for legs, and any extra details. Progress grades will be taken mid-week.
Sketchbook assignment is a 2 page written critique from classroom magazine, this involves one nice sketch of chosen artwork, and one page write up on descriptive qualities of the work. Sketchbook is due on Wed. 9/15 and is a take home assignment.

Art I 9/13 - 9/17

Students will continue to work this entire week on the contour line still life drawing. Composition was established last week, so this week, the focus is accuracy and control of pencil pressure.
Sketchbook assignment this week focuses on Implied TEXTURE, and the topic is "Living Creature". Sketchbooks are due on Thursday 9/16

2/D - 3/D ART 9/7-9/10

Installation of our first project at Greenbush took place on Friday, Sept. 3

Students will continue to work on BIRD sculpture for the week, tues students are asked to begin mounting legs into concrete and base, in which students bring in materials for legs and base. Students will continue to work on paper mache and clay bodies. Design sketches will be turned in and graded on tues the 7th.

Wearable Art 9/7- 9/10

Wearable students will be turning in the head piece design spread on Tues. The project will be turned in on Friday and we will have a group critique at that time.

Art I 9/7-9/10

Sketchbook assignment --- #3, contour line "still life" drawing.
Students should arrange a still life at home, consisting of at least 3 items arranged in a pleasing manner, and overlapping. Contour lines are clean, singular lines. Drawing should not contain sketch lines or value. In class we will begin a still life drawing on Tuesday and continue for 2-3 weeks. This assignment which will only worked on during class, will a 100 pt. project.
Students should be aware that a pop quiz is in the near future :)

Working on designs and beginning work on BIRD sculpture project. Students need to bring in LEGS from home, and create a base for concrete mold this week. Bodies will be created out of clay, and we will begin this process on Tuesday. Students will turn in designs to be graded on Tuesday.

Wearable class turns in altered book on Mon. Also - everyone should have a white t-shirt for printing project in class on Monday. Working on Positive/Negative Space designs for tar paper printing. Subject matter is an animal.

Wearable art students will cast pewter this week using the cuttlebone carving technique. Application of epoxy resin will be administered this week.

3-D Art 3/8- 3/12

3-D students will continue to work on mosaic project this week, progress grade will be given on Friday.
