ART I 12/14 - 12/18

students are learning to write a critique on an artwork. in class mon. tues. turn in the written and drawn critique on Thurs. Study for final on thurs. and fri. this week.

2-D Art 12/14- 12/18

students are finishing up the self-portraits paintings. they are due by the end of the week.
also, students will be turning in an artist report on Thursday.

Wearable Art 12/14 - 12/18

students will continue on fiber project - felting flowers.
We will have a show and tell on Tues. with our supporters from the Close Closet.

3-D ART 12/14 - 12/18

students will be finishing up on pottery projects. will be recycling clay, and writing a critique this week.

2-D Art 11/30 - 12/4

Students are working on Self-Portrait paintings. Styles of choice are realism, realism with arbitrary colors, Pop Art style/graphic design.

Wearable Art 11/30 - 12/4

Students are finishing up clay beads and medallions. We will be discussing projects for a "Trade Party", students will create 12 pieces from inexpensive materials at home, and swap artwork with fellow classmates. Students will have 2 weeks from 11/30 to complete the pieces.

3-D Art 11/30 - 12/4

3-D students are working on clay projects for the next 2 weeks. They will trade off between working on the potter's wheel, and handbuilding.

art I nov. 30 - dec. 4

Art I students are working on perspective drawings.   Two sketchbook pages are due on Thurs. Dec. 3rd - the assignments are one pt. perspective drawing of a room in your house, and a two pt. perspective drawing of 3 buildings with details.    In class on Monday the 30th, we will begin a 5 day drawing of downtown buildings in perspective.

Art I 11/9 - 11/13

Sketchbook assignment - "a piece of clothing" due Thurs. the 12th.

Students will continue to work on and finish self -portrait drawings this week. If a student has missed class or is behind, they should be taking the drawing home this week to work on.

3-D Art 11/9 - 11/13

Students will finish up Still Life painting this week in class. Will begin planning for the next project which is a self-portrait in graphic/ pop art style.

Wearable Art 11/9 - 11/13

Altered book assignment ----- PLAN for an individual refashioning of clothing. May use magazines, internet, books - or original design. Spread should contain instructions, scraps of material and should be 'teachable' in nature. Due on Tues. 10th.

We will work on these assignments in class this week.

3-D Art 11/9 - 11/13

Students will be finishing the castings for silicone mold project - required 5 castings, one in each of the following... plaster, clay, concrete. These will be turned in on Wed the 11th.

We will mix and pour concrete into mold for the paper luminary project on Monday and Tuesday.
Students will finish making sheets of paper (eastern style) and some may choose to mix their own patch of paper pulp.

ART I 10/19-10/22

Art I students will receive a demo on portrait drawing and how to grid human face for accuracy. 2 days of practice drawing, while photos are taken for self-portrait drawing. We will begin to grid drawing on wed.
sketchbook for this week is a Mode of transportation. due thurs.

2-D Art 10/19-10/22

Students are finishing up choice painting - last in class is tuesday.
We will begin drawing new still life on Wed. and will paint in acrylic.

Wearable Art 10/19-10/22

Wearable - Students are cutting out silver ring bands, they will be sawed out, filed, sanded, soldered, embellished.
Altered book assignment is due on Friday - a spread using the 5 paper ring models, featuring Rings as design.

3-D ART 10/19-10/23

Sculpture students are finishing silicone molds. This week they will apply 3 layers of silicone, and then make 5 bas relief from mold. We will begin lamp project designs on wed.

Art I students are finishing value study with charcoal.

We have begun a painting over natural objects. Students will paint each day this week.

Wearable Art 10/3 - 10/9

Class is continuing to work on pendant metal project. We hope to be finished by the end of the week.

3-D ART 10/3 -10/9

Class is working on modeling clay bas relief. We will work on the sculpting of bas relief before creating a mold for this project. On Tuesday, students will give a short 5 minute presentation on the artist they choose for report.

Sketchbook due on Thurs. 2 pages - draw left hand using the right hand, and then as a 2nd page, draw the right hand using the left.
Lighten lines on still life drawing, begin thick and thin line technique. turn in projects wed. or thurs. and then begin the value techniques and project.

continue working on sheet metal piece. filing and sanding until completely smooth, then begin interior attention.

This week we will begin our 3 week study of a still life drawing. The concepts taught are composition, contour line, visual measuring including sighting.
Sketchbook due on Thursday is a FREE assignment.

2-D Art 9/7-9/11

This week students begin a serious still life pencil drawing, that will include a value study. Sketchbook due on Wed of a Caricature drawing.

Wearable Art 9/7- 9/11

Turning in Altered books including pages on Shape, Form, Color and Origami.

Begin designing shapes based on Aquatic Environment theme. 5 drawings due on Wed. and then construction will begin after demo's on Thursday.

3-D Art 9/7-9/11

Class is continuing to work on an installation project for a store front window in pittsburg - paper mache and sculpture building.

Students will be graded on their choice project this week. And will begin designs for Scrimshaw project. We will be scrimshawing into bone for necklace piece.

Students are finishing landscape paintings this week, and will be working on Altered books with transferring images.

ART I

1st and 7th hour classes are beginning to work on a wire sculpture project. Students may receive extra credit by bringing in bailing wire to share with class.

3rd and 4th hour classes are working on toothpick sculpture projects. They will continue this week and part of next week for this project.

Sculpture projects are drying and will be fired in the kiln as they become ready. Grades will be taken after the project is completed, including painting the surface.

2-D ART

Students are working on landscape paintings which were begun last week. Altered book assignment of using marbleized paper have been turned in.
Friday the 17th is the Pittsburg Spring ART Walk, the 2-d class is working on designing and creating a window display to be exhibited during the Art Walk - 5-7 p.m. on Friday.

Students are glazing pottery this week and working on independent projects continued from last week.

Students have this week to finish up head sculpture project. Students need to use all of the clay originally given, approx. 12 lbs. The projects will be graded on 3-d form quality and following directions. Sketchbook assignment this week --- draw 3 noses, realistically with value on one page, 12 pts.

Students are finishing up on Collage project, they will be turned in on the 31st. Our next project will be an independent study with several choices for students previously expressed. Sketches will be due on Thursday for new project.

Students are finishing up a portrait painting, class critique on the 31st. Altered book assigment to be given this week, due next Thurs. Demo of marbelized paper set for Tues. and this will tie into the Altered book assignment.

Students are finishing up on coil pots, these will be graded this week. The new project to begin is a sculpture carving of a head. Sketchbook of 3 designs for Head Sculpture are due March 31, 36 pts. this will not be accepted late.

This week working in small groups on creating packaging tape figures. Class will create installation window display to be shown downtown Pittsburg the following week. When sculptures are completed, backdrop will be dealt with. Art critique with sketch due on Monday the 9th.

3-D ART

Class will compose display on Monday for installation of jewelry pieces for the art show. Tuesday through Friday will be spent working on designs for the next jewelry project. New techniques include riveting and etching.

Students continue on abstract/non-objective exercises and begin large acrylic painting on theme of non-objective. Monday we will install the art show at Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg, students choosing not to attend will work on their paintings. Demonstration of altered book techniques on Tuesday.

3-D/Wearables

Students continue to work on a sterling silver band ring project. This assignment includes designing, cutting sheet silver, soldering metal, filing, cleaning and oxidizing - they are looking GREAT!
This class will be displaying jewelry projects at the Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg during the month of Feb. Public reception will be held Feb. 5th 6-8 p.m.

Students are continuing on a series of exercises leading up to a large abstract/non-objective painting. All students are encouraged to submit artwork for the GHS Art Exhibition shown at Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg during the month of February. Public reception for parents and community will be held Feb. 5th 6-8 p.m.
